It’s a wonder that the key to understanding our happiness is such a simple thing.
It’s not having wealth, or power, or titles or the “perfect spouse”, etc. My teacher said once to a young man who was very unhappy “The fault does not lie in you my child, but in standing back and letting the mind take control.”
When I lived in Japan, I would sometimes have that perfect moment, that priceless awareness that all is well with the world. There would be a sense of radiant joy within me. It was not fleeting feeling, but was actually my core center.
I am slowly understanding that the key to re-experiencing this wonder lies in not letting our mind multiply little things into huge yet unreal things… even worry, fear and yes, even lust are mind work.
