The way a you treat your spouse or life partner is the truest reflection of your character and spiritual life.

Think about this.

An old poem from the Tang era in China…

An old poem from the Tang era in China:

                         All in one;
                         One in all.
                         If only this is realized,
                         then no worry
                         about our not being perfect

A pure beam of white light strikes the prism and out from the other side pour all the colours of the rainbow: reverse the process and they become one again.

So much for racial discrimination

There’s an old tao saying…

December 15th, 2007 by Locke in Daily Life, Spiritual Journey

There’s an old tao saying which goes something like this -

“Receiving fortune is receiving a trial
            Receiving misfortune is receiving grace.”

I was thinking this morning when the piece of sand gets inside the oyster – it is a real irritant but the oyster wisely sets about his business and… Voila! A few months later we have a pearl of great value.

When a foreign bacteria (lactobacillus acidophilus) is added to milk the result is a substance with wonderful therapeutic properties .

In my own life the situations which were the most difficult or painful seem always to have given me the most reward

Aging

December 14th, 2007 by Locke in Daily Life, Spiritual Journey

They say things get
better with time

Great works of art
perhaps people

There’s a fig tree
near my house

I pick the ripe green
figs that are soft

I leave the old ones
leathery and brown

But yesterday
I took one anyway

When I got home
I split open its tough skin

And inside was the
sweetest fruit of all.

Often the old ones,
the wise ones

Are the ones
with the sweetest fruit

We should know this
as we go about our lives
