Covers

May 21st, 2008 by Locke in Daily Life, Relationship, Spiritual Journey

    They say you can’t
     Tell a book by its cover;
     How true.

     What about
       People?

     Covers tend to wear out
       Over time.

      What are we
       Left with?

Only the lines and pages and
      What is written on them;
       Now we’re getting closer.

       What you are
        Speaks louder than
        What you say.

        I have a friend
        Who talks
        A blue streak.

        He’s a rather odd
       Looking person, too.

       When I was sick
       He was the only one
       Who came.

       He brought soup, and
        A lot more.

       He showed me his
       wiser pages.

Did you ever hear an ant complain?

May 20th, 2008 by Locke in Daily Life, Jihad, service, Spiritual Journey

Did you ever hear
    an ant complain?

Work, work. work
    endless struggle.

Clear the debris
   bury the dead.

Feed the commune,
    perform duty; truly
         A wonder!

What a lesson
      for us mortals.

Were we to do, one day
      what an ant does
         every day

We might see,
       we might understand

And then, know that
      we must become
         Ants, ourselves.

If a dog threatens to bite you…

May 19th, 2008 by Locke in Daily Life, Spiritual Journey

       Advice from the Wise One

If a dog threatens to bite you
Show your love and give it a bone
And you will be able to escape.
Do not preach wisdom to it
That could be dangerous for you.

Complete freedom takes only a second…

May 18th, 2008 by Locke in Daily Life, Spiritual Journey

The sage said;

At any moment a man can give up anything he has and become completely free.

Even though this state can be attained in one second, some people might not reach it in a thousand years.

But if we can discard our attachment to earth, gold, lust, possessions, our body, and everything we have gained so far; if we can throw all this away and say, “My God!” then we can surrender to God and be liberated then and there.
