The life of one who has no determination,

Of one who acts without a firm plan,

Is like a pond without banks.

Although there is water in plenty

It flows away,

Rendering one’s life worthless.

  There is no work to do in the world,the only work is within the self.

   There is no fighting in theland,the fighting is within you.

There are no differences in the land,the differences are within you.

There are no troubles in the land, the troubles are within your own judgement.

There is no divisiveness in creation,only in your own state.

         The fault is not in you,but in standing back and letting the things in your mind take over.

         If you catch and control your mind this will not happen.

   A sharp knife will become dull

  From cutting things that are hard;

The sharpest point will one day be blunt.

Even fine and subtle wisdom

Can be ruined by the arrogance of the “I”.

The cat catches a mouse and plays with it,enjoying the movements, distress, and panic of the mouse.For the cat this game is pleasure but for the mouse, terror and eventually death.

   In the same way,the mind captures and plays with the soul,enjoying its discomfort and eventual demise.The sage  tells us to see this and understand it. Only then can we can move beyond it and find true peace.
