mimosas

January 16th, 2009 by Locke in Daily Life, Relationship, Spiritual Journey

A certain kind

of mimosa is of

a delicate design

If you brush

against it

it will close

And stay that

way till

danger is past

Some people

are this way,

with very fragile emotions

What may

come from our mouths

can penetrtate them

The sage says

that not even to

hurt another

is a good life

camels and wisdom

January 15th, 2009 by Locke in Uncategorized

Son, a camel is called the ship of the desert. If you want to journey across the desert, take a camel for it can bear the heat and suffering. This ability has been given to the camel by God.

But, do not beat it with your hastiness, uncontrollable anger, or the arrogance of the ego just because it walks too slowly. Nor should you become a camel and try to do the camel’s work. You cannot walk across the desert. Your anger and hastiness would be hazardous to you.

With wisdom you must acquire patience, inner patience, contentment, trust in God, and the quality of giving all praise to God. Acquire these qualities and conduct your life with them. This will give you peace and tranquillity.

barking dogs

January 14th, 2009 by Locke in Daily Life, Spiritual Journey

Each morning on my walk

 I encounter a

 large black dog.

He is behind

 a wire fence

Often he is sleeping

but awakened

he barks at me.

This morning I

 stopped near him

as he barked and growled.

I said a prayer

over and over and the

strangest thing happened.

He stopped barking.

Then he looked afraid

and started backing away.

Finally he turned

and trotted off.

The power of God

is this way.

It dispels fear and

deepens faith.

With it we can

do anything.

Without it the

dog will keep barking.

the true jihad

January 13th, 2009 by Locke in Bawa Muhaiyaddeen, Daily Life, Jihad, service, Spiritual Journey

The wise man says,”There is no purpose in fighting a jihad- a holy war-against those in the world outside you, who do not accept God. Within you there are creations that do not accept God. If you can wage jihad on them, eliminate them, and strengthen your absolute faith, certitude and determination in God alone, you will attain the excellence and peace of a true believer and will have found the true value and meaning of your existence.
